How to add the AISkillHub chat to your website

4 min read

The three steps that work on every site builder, plus how to verify your domain and what to check when the chat does not show up.

The AISkillHub chat, Live chat or Global Room, is one script tag. Wherever your site lets you add code to every page, you can add the chat. This guide covers the steps every platform shares. For click-by-click instructions, pick your platform:

Want to see it before you install anything? Try the chat on a sample site. No account needed.

1. Create the widget

Create a free account, open Widgets, and choose New widget. Pick Live chat or Global Room, then set the title, greeting, colors, and icons under Settings. You can change all of these later without touching your site again.

2. Verify your domain

Open the widget's Domain & verification tab and enter your domain, for example example.com. The www. version is included automatically. Then prove you own it, using one of two methods:

  • DNS: add the TXT record shown on that page at your domain provider. Changes can take up to an hour to appear.
  • Meta tag: add the aiskillhub-verification meta tag shown on that page to your homepage's head section.

Choose Verify. The chat only appears on a verified domain, so a copied snippet will not work on anyone else's site. While you build locally, localhost works without verification.

3. Paste the snippet

Copy the snippet from the widget's Install tab. It looks like this, with your own widget key:

<script src="https://app.aiskillhub.dev/widget.js" data-widget="wgt_your_widget_key" async></script>

Paste it just before the closing </body> tag on every page where the chat should appear. Most builders call this the footer code or body end. Publish your site, open it in a private window, and the chat button appears in the corner.

If the chat does not show up

  • The domain is not verified yet. Check the Domain & verification tab. If you used DNS, wait a little and choose Verify again.
  • You are on a different domain. A widget allows one domain and its www. twin. A staging address like mysite.builder-preview.com needs its own widget.
  • The widget is turned off. The switch at the top of the widget page must say Widget on.
  • The snippet is pasted twice. The second copy is ignored, which is fine, but remove it to keep things tidy.
  • The data-widget attribute was removed. Some editors strip attributes they do not recognise. Paste the snippet into a code or HTML area, not a rich text box.
  • A cache is serving the old page. Clear your caching plugin or CDN after adding the snippet.

Single-page apps

If your site changes pages without reloading, the chat notices the new address on its own, so Global Room page rooms keep working. If your app shows its "not found" page without a real 404 response, add this tag to that page so visitors there use the main room:

<meta name="aiskillhub-chat-room" content="main">
